Buhari mourns Ghana fire, flood victims

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday commiserated with the government and people of Ghana over the flooding and fire outbreak which claimed scores of lives in the country.   Buhari’s condolence message to the neighbouring West African country was contained in a statement made available to journalists  by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu.

Buhari, in the message, said Nigeria would stand by Ghana in its moment of grief and loss.   “In this moment of grief and loss, the government and people of Nigeria stand with the government and people of Ghana,” he said.   The President further described the twin tragedies of flooding and explosion that led to loss of several lives as painful and regrettable.   He noted that the flooding reminds leaders and governments in the West African sub-region of their responsibilities to the problem of global warming, among others.   He prayed that the souls of the deceased rest in eternal bliss and that their families and friends find fortitude to bear the losses.
